Czech deputy transport minister resigns over corruption scandal
Prague, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Czech Deputy Transport Minister Petr Pospichal will leave his post on Friday, as this was agreed on by him and Transport Minister Milan Simonovsky on Wednesday morning, ministerial spokeswoman Marcela Zizkova said Wednesday.
Pospichal is being investigated in connection with a corruption case when state orders for the production of bioalcohol were placed.
He will leave the office following an agreement. The meeting with Simonovsky was also attended by First Deputy Transport Minister Antonin Tesarik, who reportedly dealt with Pospichal's nomination to an inter-ministerial commission in charge of bioalcohol.
Corruption charges have been brought against Ludmila Schwarzova, a former head of Pospichal's office and a member of the Social Democrat leadership.
Along with her, the police have brought charges against another two Social Democrats, Josef Laznicka, the administrative secretary of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure, and lobbyist Frantisek Vybiral. The latter two have been expelled from the party, while Schwarzova remains.
