Silicon Design Systems Enhances Its Interconnect Synthesis Product; Flagship Product, K-Route, Continues to Show Improved Design Results
Posted on: Thursday, 23 March 2006, 15:00 CST
Physical design tools company Silicon Design Systems, Inc. today announced it has enhanced its Interconnect Synthesis product, K-Route(TM), by adding fine-grained multi-mode/multi-corner analysis capability to support conflicting design constraints and variability. This innovative new advancement enables highly efficient critical-path optimization for all corners and modes, in contrast to the less-refined block-level optimization currently supported by other methodologies. The K-Route next-generation IC router automatically adjusts the netlist incrementally, as well as performs incremental placement and routing to solve identified violations, while optimizing each net for the worst-case corners and mode. This approach results in faster and more predictable physical design projects and lower costs.
Dr. Satya Gupta, Vice President of Engineering for Open-Silicon, Inc., said: "Silicon Design Systems' approach for incremental multi-mode/multi-corner analysis and optimization is unique and shows great promise. Dealing with variability and different modes introduces conflicting challenges for overall design convergence. We view the potential of solving these concurrently while analyzing net by net as a substantial benefit."
Since introducing K-Route at DAC last year, Silicon Design Systems has seen positive market feedback from companies around the world. The companies note K-Route's ability to concurrently route, analyze and optimize at the finest level of routing granularity to resolve all electrical and geometrical challenges. Today's enhancements mark the next step in K-Route's unique capability to help companies achieve highest-quality results for physical design closure.
"We are excited about this new functionality incorporated in K-Route's second release," said Jacob Greidinger, CEO of Silicon Design Systems, "and it is equally gratifying to hear that leading companies see the benefit from the efficiencies of our original interconnect synthesis approach."
Hideki Yamada, Vice President of Design Solutions Group at Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc., commented, "We have evaluated K-Route and seen improvement in multiple criteria. K-Route demonstrated better timing closure and better DFM metrics compared to competing flows."
Availability and Pricing
Priced from US$495k for a one-year license, the second release of K-Route is available now.
