Trend Micro Taps LTG to Fulfill PC-Cillin Activations on Dell Computers

Customers looking to convert trial copies of Trend Micro PC-cillin anti-virus software to full versions on new Dell computers will find the process made easier thanks to an agreement announced today by License Technologies Group (LTG, www.licensetech.com). The specialists in license management and eBusiness services for software publishers will be hosting the site and managing the process that allows consumers to turn trial copies into fully functioning versions of the software.
Upon activation of their trial copies of PC-cillin, Dell computer purchasers have 90 days to use the software free of charge. In order to have continued protection from malware--viruses, worms, spyware, phishing, and spam--customers must purchase the full version of the software. Prior to the end of the trial period, customers receive reminder pop-ups that provide a "purchase now" button. When they click on the button, users are taken to what appears to be Trend Micro's site when, in fact, they are utilizing a site created, set-up, and hosted by LTG. With a few clicks and their credit card number, customers can activate their anti-virus software seamlessly.
"We wanted to offer a trial program through our OEM partners allowing customers to try our products at no cost and then easily purchase a fully licensed version online," says Robert Munne, Director of Sales Operations for Trend Micro. "LTG's expertise and understanding of our needs enabled them to respond quickly and deliver a fully-functional and tested site ahead of schedule. Trend Micro has realized significant savings as a result of working with LTG."
The PC-cillin conversion program is the latest in a series of partnerships between Trend Micro and LTG for the delivery of software-related services. LTG has managed Trend Micro's volume license program for several years, and recently was brought on to manage the security software company's SMB (Small and Medium Business) online store. Trend Micro elected to use LTG to manage the PC-cillin trial conversion after seeing how it would reduce their costs and allow them to remain focused on delivering industry-leading security software and appliances.
"We have an outstanding relationship with Trend Micro," says Geoff Surkamer, Senior Vice President of LTG. "The PC-cillin trial conversion program is just one more example of the synergies that exist between our two organizations. We are gratified that they to chose LTG to handle this very important program for them."
