Posted on: Tuesday, 17 February 2004, 06:00 CST

Egenera Inc., the leader in utility computing, today announced its membership in the Microsoft Certified Partner Program. In addition, Egenera has received the Designed for Windows logo for its family of Egenera(TM) Processing Blade(TM) configurations running Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Server 2003, Enterprise Edition. These designations ensure Egenera customers that the Egenera BladeFrame(R) system is tuned to perform optimally with Microsoft applications. ¶"An increasing number of our customers are migrating business-critical applications to the Microsoft platform," said Susan Davis, Vice President of Product Marketing and Management at Egenera. "Our standing as a Microsoft Certified Partner assures them that the BladeFrame system provides a stable architecture. As a result, customers can focus on applications instead of infrastructure. The BladeFrame system with Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, provides the high availability, ease of management and server consolidation that enterprise datacenters are looking for."¶"When customers are looking to implement a Microsoft technology solution for their business, a good bet is to turn to a company that has certified expertise and direct training and support from Microsoft," said Allison Watson, Vice President of the Worldwide Partner Sales & Marketing Group at Microsoft. "Microsoft provides its Certified Partners with in-depth access to existing and emerging Microsoft technologies and related training and resources to help ensure that they have the technical intimacy needed to deliver quality solutions. Today, Microsoft recognizes Egenera for demonstrating this level of expertise and welcomes it as a new Microsoft Certified Partner."¶ Additionally, Egenera is announcing enhancements to its support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, with the implementation of Microsoft Multipath I/O (MPIO). MPIO allows the BladeFrame to utilize multiple I/O paths, increasing throughput and providing redundant paths to the storage area network. Egenera has also licensed the Remote Desktop Protocol from the Microsoft Communication Protocol Program and integrated it into Egenera's PAN Manager(TM) software, providing GUI support for Windows in addition to its Secure Administration Console support on the BladeFrame system.
