Information Security Services provider igxglobal inc. Deploys ConSentry for Secure LAN Access Control at Environmental Engineering Specialist HydroQual
ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure LAN solutions, today announced its Secure LAN Controller has been selected by igxglobal, a leading information security services provider, as the centerpiece for launching a new managed LAN security services program. igxglobal is leveraging the Secure LAN Controller to deliver comprehensive LAN security services that include network admission control, visibility and auditing, user access control and threat containment, all provided by a single platform that integrates seamlessly with existing LAN infrastructures.
igxglobal's initial implementation of its new managed LAN security services is with HydroQual, a leading environmental engineering and consulting firm. The company evaluates the presence and impact of pollutants in natural water systems, assesses and optimizes water and wastewater treatment processes, and provides environmental hydrodynamics and sediment transport modeling.
According to Babak Pasdar, Chief Technology and Information Security Officer with igxglobal, "An increasing number of our customers, like HydroQual, have been asking us to extend our managed service offerings from the perimeter into their LAN. They need the protection but simply don't have the luxury of supporting dedicated security resources. With ConSentry's Secure LAN Controller, we now have the means to quickly deploy user access and application control that denies unauthorized usage. At the same time, we're providing customers with a complete range of LAN security services that will help them maintain regulatory compliance."
In the case of HydroQual, they needed a technology that offers segmentation of their internal network to protect from malware propagation as well as the prevention of potential security breaches by unauthorized access of sensitive resources. The company performs complex mathematical modeling programs on clustered supercomputers that can take days or weeks to complete. Any disruption to these modeling runs would be catastrophic, not only to HydroQual from a financial perspective, but to its public and industrial clients worldwide who depend on their modeling analysis to complete a wide range of time-sensitive infrastructure projects.
"What I need is total and persistent visibility into and control over who gets access to my resources in order to maintain business continuity," said Jim Hallden, Director of Information Technology at HydroQual. "This is exactly what I get from the ConSentry solution. By combining the system's ability to proactively enforce user access control policies and threat management services with 24/7 monitoring from one of the leading managed services providers in the country, we're securing our vital business assets that satisfies our industry's stringent regulatory compliance measures."
As HydroQual's managed services provider, igxglobal maintains responsibility for managing and monitoring the ConSentry system in order to develop and deliver threat and risk management analysis. By leveraging ConSentry's Insight Manager to gain unprecedented visibility into layer 2 - 7 network traffic, igxglobal can recommend and refine user and group access control policies that map to HydroQual's specific security requirements.
"We expect demand for managed LAN security services to explode," said Dean Hickman-Smith, ConSentry's vice president of sales. "Enterprise customers want to focus their precious IT resources on improving operational efficiencies and increasing revenues, not on having to identify, deploy and manage security services. Partnering with strategic service providers like igxglobal is a key enabler in delivering Secure LAN's quickly to enterprises."
