Nextance Enables Private Healthcare Systems to Better Manage Network

Posted on: Monday, 27 March 2006, 12:00 CST

Nextance Inc., the solutions provider setting the standard for contract performance management (CPM), today announced that Private Healthcare Systems (PHCS) has selected Nextance's solution over other competitive offerings. With Nextance, PHCS will be able to better manage not just customer relationships but also one of its greatest assets: the PHCS Network comprised of nearly 450,000 health care providers.

Connecting customers with its broad network of providers, PHCS is the national leader in health care cost management and is the largest national proprietary preferred provider organization (PPO) network as well as the second largest independent care management company in the US. But managing nearly half a million health care provider relationships proved to be a growing and time-consuming challenge.

"For an organization as large as ours, it would be easy to become buried under the sheer number of contractual relationships and regulatory burdens that we must manage so closely," explained Joseph Driscoll, president and chief executive officer for PHCS. "But these relationships are the core of our business, so it is critical that we have crystal-clear visibility and precise control over all these moving parts. As our contract management partner, Nextance will help play a key role in managing the health of our provider network, which means we can take better care of our customers and our own business."

Nextance is also delivering other competitive advantages to PHCS, including:

-- Opportunity for greater customer satisfaction: PHCS can better track and communicate to customers their rights and responsibilities under provider contracts that can be difficult for many organizations to manage;

-- Quick, low-cost implementation: the "out of the box" functionality of Nextance Contract Insight, coupled with the configuration tool set that allows PHCS to manage changes to the system internally, gets PHCS up and running quickly for an immediate impact and lower total cost of ownership (TCO);

-- More flexible platform and architecture: unlike other CPM vendors, Nextance offers fully XML-based solutions that improve ease of use, scalability and integrations into other IT systems;

-- Greater adoption by users: the intuitive Nextance Self-Service module will more easily drive adoption of the CPM system throughout the company and therefore increase compliance and enable standardization of best-practices; and

-- A synergistic relationship: PHCS saw a natural fit with Nextance's people, creating an expert relationship to make PHCS successful in its CPM efforts.

"The intricacies of business continue to grow in industry after industry, as does the increasing pressure to move faster," stated Tracy Clifford, Nextance's vice president of worldwide sales. "As an innovator in the heath care cost containment field, PHCS is also forward-thinking in recognizing that contract performance management is needed in its highly-regulated and complex business. We are happy that Nextance can help PHCS to become more effective and efficient as well as to better serve its customers."
