SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ — Groxis, Inc., the leader in visual information management software, announced today the beta release of its long-anticipated Google plug-in, a software module for Grokker, the popular desktop search and personal data-mining tool. Available as a free beta to Grokker customers, the Google plug-in enables users to query and retrieve information from Google and visualize the results in an easy-to-navigate Grokker map. Groxis unveiled the plug-in today at DEMO, the leading technology conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Google plug-in is the latest addition to data sources available through Grokker 2, the widely popular search application framework, which also features plug-ins for Amazon and other web search engines and content feeds. Because of the immense popularity of the Google search engine paired with uncompromising relevancy, speed, and quality of Google search, Groxis developed a special plug-in that enables users to view the Google search results in prominently designated Grokker maps.

“Access to Google search content is in high demand across our growing customer base of web researchers, and we are proud to be working with the Google API to demonstrate new ways of organizing search results on the desktop,” said R.J. Pittman, CEO and co-founder of Groxis. “Grokker has taken another step forward in its ongoing mission to become the first true desktop search application framework, for unlimited personal data mining power. Over the coming months Grokker 2 will deliver unprecedented access to news feeds, blogs, social networks, e-commerce, and special interest research and content sources, from around the globe,” Pittman added.

Groxis also announced its Grokker SDK, a software development kit that will enable developers to quickly create their own custom plug-ins to virtually any content feed or data source available on a network. The SDK will give developers access to many of Grokker’s powerful content management capabilities, visualization tools, and much more. The SDK will be made freely available to registered developers of the Grokker SDK program, found on the company web site at: http://www.groxis.com/service/grok/g_developer.html .

“As Grokker 2 continues to gain market share, we recognize the need to reach out to the developer community to ensure our customers are able to grok the data sources important to their business,” said Jean-Michel Decombe, CTO and co-founder of Groxis. “The SDK is the first step in that process. We look forward to further building our relationships with over 300 registered Grokker developers in the coming months, ” he added.

Since first previewing its technology in October 2002, Groxis has received accolades from industry watchers, product reviewers, and customers. Grokker 2 has already won appeal with educators, students, and consumer researchers where there has been a growing demand for applications that can help simplifying the process of researching on the Web. The result of a yearlong dialog with early customers and industry experts, Grokker 2 has been significantly improved to make research on the Web easier, more enjoyable, and more efficient for everyone. Educators in both the K-12 and higher education market have already pronounced Grokker 2 an essential project-based learning tool for 2004.
