Transaction Network Services, Inc. (NYSE:TNS), a leading network and data communications provider for transaction-oriented applications, today announced that it has joined Stealth Communications' Voice Peering Fabric (VPF) to provide VPF members a range of TNS applications for Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) services.
The VPF is a distributed Ethernet network that functions as an exchange or meet-point for service providers and enterprises to exchange VoIP traffic in a secure, quality-of-service environment.
Initial products offered to the VPF client base include traditional SS7 database services Caller Name (CNAM) and Local Number Portability (LNP), accessible today via Internet Protocol (IP) transactional protocols including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Future services will include SMS800 (toll-free) call routing database services using similar IP transactional methods.
"VPF provides us with a new channel to deliver our enhanced VoIP services," stated Bill Thornton, director of business development, Telecommunications Services Division for TNS. "In addition to TNS services such as CNAM and LNP, we now have an augmented suite of VoIP products as a result of our InfiniRoute acquisition. We are eager to market our entire range of services to the growing VoIP marketplace."
"TNS brings to our community a wider selection of services," said Shrihari Pandit, president and CEO of Stealth Communications. "TNS' offering with InfiniRoute's VoIP products and services will enhance the VPF with additional functionalities."
TNS will be attending the Voice Peering Forum Spring 2006 show from March 30 to 31, in Miami, Fla. On Thursday, March 30 at 3:15 p.m., Dan Lyman, vice president, sales engineering and product management, Telecommunications Services Division of TNS, will be speaking on the panel entitled "Transitioning SS7 and TCAP services into an IP world."
