Parvus to Launch New Rugged Computing, Networking and Display Products at Embedded Systems Conference April 4-6
Posted on: Thursday, 30 March 2006, 12:00 CST
Parvus Corp. will unveil new families of ruggedized mobile IP networking solutions, flat panel displays and embedded computer systems at the Embedded Systems Conference (Booth No. 1828) April 4-6 at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, Calif. The launch of these commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware platforms further positions Parvus as a leading provider of rugged solutions for demanding real-world applications.
"Time-to-market is often a critical factor for our customers, and development of completely custom systems may be cost or time prohibitive," said Clark Roundy, vice president of sales and marketing for Parvus Corp. "For this reason, Parvus is introducing these exciting new standardized rugged processor, display and computer networking systems, which combine the core feature sets, environmental compliance and functionality desired by our customers. These products build upon years of experience by Parvus developing and qualifying similar devices for prime defense contractors, metropolitan transit authorities and homeland security integrators. We anticipate this offering will enable our customers to fast-track their development cycle, since 80 to 100% of what they need will be already developed."
These three new product families leverage Parvus' 20+ year heritage in embedded PC architecture and system ruggedization. They include: the DuraMAR(TM) mobile access router, the DuraCOR(TM) rugged computer processing platform family, and the DuraVIS(TM) rugged monitor and multi-function display family.
DuraMAR Mobile Access Router
DuraMAR is the first Mobile Internet Protocol (IP) router specifically tailored to the needs of the military, aerospace and rail transit industries. The DuraMAR leverages Cisco Systems' industry standard IOS(R) software and 3200 Series Mobile Access Router (MAR) technology to enable a wide range of previously unattainable computer networking applications in challenging application environments, such as trains, helicopters, buses and armored vehicles. The DuraMAR is designed to support seamless mobile roaming between different wireless networks, supporting such applications as mobile hot spots, mobile Voice Over IP (VoIP) communication, inter-vehicle networking, IP technology bridging for legacy communications and real-time situational awareness capabilities for net-centric initiatives.
DuraCOR Processor Platforms
The DuraCOR series systems are modular, highly configurable embedded computers designed to meet military and transportation environmental standards. Ideal for general-purpose processing or application-specific functionality with add-on modules, these systems are engineered to withstand the shock, vibration, humidity, extreme temperatures and power requirements experienced onboard vehicles or aircraft.
DuraVIS Displays
The DuraVIS series are rugged monitors and avionics displays available for industrial mobile, aerospace and military applications. DuraVIS products offer daylight readability, a hardened mechanical design with anti-glare protective covers for impact protection and explosive decompression, excellent dimming capabilities and exceptional low-temperature operation. Some models also integrate modular embedded PC technology to support system expansion and onboard data processing capabilities. Designed to meet MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461, each unit is designed with high reliability in mind, protecting against glare, EMI/EMC, extreme temperature, physical contact and shock & vibration.
