With New POS VNIC, Ixia's IxANVL Protocol Conformance Testing
Software Works with All High-Speed Networks
¶ Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, announced today the availability of a new virtual network interface card (VNIC) driver for its industry-leading IxANVL protocol conformance testing software that enables testing over OC-48 and OC-192 Packet over SONET (POS) networks. ¶ IxANVL (Ixia Automated Network Validation Library) is the industry standard for automated network protocol validation. IxANVL is extremely cost-effective because it utilizes a networked, Linux-based PC to offer complete protocol conformance testing. With the VNIC driver software, IxANVL can utilize high-speed interfaces on Ixia's testing platforms for conformance testing over OC-48 (2.5 Gbps) and OC-192 (10 Gbps) POS networks. ¶"The architecture of IxANVL has enabled it to become the industry standard for conformance testing because it provides the most complete suite of protocols without a huge investment in hardware," said Dean Lee, Ixia product manager. "Our VNIC technology allows us to extend IxANVL to support high-speed interfaces where a direct PC interface is not available."¶ The availability of the new VNIC driver expands the complete IxANVL solution to all high-speed network interfaces, including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Sync Serial, Async Serial, T1/E1 and now high-speed POS. ¶ Network managers and network equipment manufacturers use IxANVL to evaluate network equipment to determine the level of conformance with industry standards and operational specifications. With its regression testing capability, IxANVL can be used throughout the life of a network product to test the impact of software changes to existing code. IxANVL provides complete conformance testing on a wide selection of protocols, including bridging, routing, PPP, TCP/IP, IPv6, IP storage, RMON, VPN, MPLS and Multicast. ¶ The VNIC for Packet over SONET interfaces is now available.
