Apr. 1--FORT WORTH -- RadioShack will pay acting Chief Executive Claire Babrowski a base salary of $725,000 in 2006, according to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Additionally, Babrowski was granted options on 100,000 shares of RadioShack stock. She was also granted 18,000 shares of restricted stock, according to the filing. The electronics retailer's shares (ticker: RSH) closed down 27 cents Friday at $19.23.
Babrowski was promoted to the interim position in February when Chief Executive Dave Edmondson resigned after admitting inaccuracies on his corporate resume. His resignation came days after a Star-Telegram investigation revealed that the college he attended had no record of his having earned a degree and never offered one of the degrees he listed on his resume and in his corporate biography.
In the interim role, Babrowski's base salary is $25,000 less than Edmondson's base for 2005, according to an SEC filing from last year.
In June, Babrowski, a former McDonald's Corp. executive, was appointed RadioShack's chief operating officer and executive vice president with a base salary of $625,000 and 100,000 stock options plus 5,000 shares of restricted stock, according to a 2005 filing. She still retains her title as COO.
RadioShack has an executive search firm vetting internal and external CEO candidates. Various analysts and company insiders have called Babrowski the odds-on favorite.
