Sify Limited (Nasdaq:SIFY), a leader in Consumer Internet and Enterprise Services in India with global delivery capabilities, today announced the Maturity Level 5 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration - Software, Staged Representation (CMMI-SW version 1.1) Appraisal for its Technology Development Units. The Lead Assessor from M/s Trimentus Technologies, Chennai, conferred this milestone after the SCAMPI Class A Appraisal.
The appraisal covers Sify's development units of Technology, Enterprise Application Services and the Forum supply chain management division across 22 key process areas. This certification reinforces the success of Sify's technology team that developed the software tools & applications for remote monitoring and management of its network, for optimizing service delivery to customers across both corporate and consumer services, and for the development of connectivity applications & software for customers. Sify's process driven approach has resulted in sophisticated remote monitoring & management tools for IT infrastructure. For example, the 21,000 plus computers in Sify's over 3100 strong iWay cyber cafe chain across 149 cities are remotely monitored and managed by a team of just 12 engineers using an application developed by Sify's Technology team.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Rustom Irani, President and Chief Technology Officer, Sify Limited, said, "Sify has always been committed towards providing excellent quality of services to customers. The CMMI Maturity Level 5 appraisal reaffirms our commitment and experience in developing tools & applications for quality & reliability of service delivery for use within the organization, as well as in developing tools & applications for customers. This reiterates the maturity of our processes, which translates into the highest degree of reliability for our customers."
Mr. Manvendra Bhangui, Vice President, Technology added: "What this means is that we will be able to manage our tools, applications & related software development, quantitatively and statistically, to effectively eliminate defects at source, both for our extensive internal needs as well as for customers. We will also be able to predict project performance accurately to better plan the growth & development of our network services, as well as provide insights to clients on project deliverables for the software tools & applications being developed for them."
This appraisal recognizes Sify's standard processes for applications, tools & related software development, implementation of automated tools for process & quality systems, as well as mechanisms to train associates in the best quality practices in the industry. Other examples of applications developed by Sify's Technology team include the development of automated tools like Sify's Beacon Network Management System, as well as applications like Sify Mail, the Sify Mall content management tool and the Sify Access Manager for broadband services.
CMMI is the latest model for organizations to map quality levels and focus on continuous process improvement. With the successful appraisal at CMMI Maturity Level 5 ("Optimizing"), Sify demonstrates its expertise in organization-wide standard process and quantitative project management with statistical control and process prediction models ensuring consistent project implementation for increased customer satisfaction.
