Bivio Networks, the leader in high-speed network appliance platforms for the Software-Driven Network(TM), today announced networking and telecommunications industry veteran Tim Waters has joined the company as vice president of marketing. Waters will be responsible for driving overall marketing and product management efforts for Bivio's network appliances.
"With his extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, Tim is an excellent addition to the Bivio executive team," said Elan Amir, president and CEO for Bivio Networks. "Tim has a proven record of delivering innovative ideas and providing organizations with the insight and expertise needed to guide them to market leadership. We are looking to Tim to help further establish the company as the de facto standard for wire-speed network appliances."
"The opportunity to join a company that's delivering products that will transform the way networks operate was compelling," said Waters. "Bivio's concept of the Software-Driven Network will be the catalyst for great change in application networking, and I look forward to being a part of this market evolution."
Prior to joining Bivio, Waters was vice president of marketing and business development at NetDevices, Inc., a leading supplier in the enterprise service gateway marketplace. Tim has held similar positions at SkyStream Networks, a manufacturer of IP video headends, and Onetta, Inc., where he led the creation of the intelligent optical engine market. Previously, Waters was vice president of marketing and business development for Promatory Communications, a leading supplier of next-generation DSL access multiplexers, subsequently acquired by Nortel Networks. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president of data product management for Ameritech and held several management positions at Paradyne Corporation and AT&T Computer Systems. Waters holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a BA in economics from College of the Holy Cross.
Bivio provides an appliance platform that delivers the wire-speed performance normally associated with ASIC-driven network hardware. Bivio's appliance architecture allows network equipment manufacturers and application developers to focus on their core competencies--software development--and still compete effectively with ASIC-driven systems from other vendors. Bivio's multi-gigabit-performance platform supports enhanced, open Linux software and includes a comprehensive set of common networking and management functions, making it ideal for software companies that want to deliver high-performance applications but do not have the resources to build their own ASIC.
