KDDI, Tokyo Electric in Fiber-Optic Biz Integration Talks

Tokyo, April 3 (Jiji Press)--KDDI Corp. and Tokyo Electric Power Co. are in the final stages of negotiations over integration of their optical fiber operations, it was learned Monday.
The two companies are discussing a plan to integrate the operations by spring next year by allowing KDDI to acquire the optical fiber network of the power utility, informed sources said.
They are also considering the possibility of operating their optical fiber-based communications services under a common brand from June at the earliest, the sources said.END
