MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced MySQL Administrator, a new open source tool with a graphical user interface (GUI) designed to provide easy management and monitoring of MySQL(R) database servers. MySQL Administrator is the first product in a new family of open source administrative tools by MySQL AB. MySQL AB is demonstrating MySQL Administrator at LinuxWorld Expo in booth #451, January 21-23, at the Javits Center in New York. ¶"We want to make database management easy and affordable for everyone, and our new open source administrative tool fully supports this goal," said Marten Mickos, MySQL AB CEO. "MySQL Administrator is the first example of the intuitive, powerful tools that MySQL will continue to contribute to the expanding ecosystem of MySQL-related software comprised of hundreds of products from MySQL partners and the open source community."
¶ MySQL Administrator: Database Management Made Easy
¶ MySQL Administrator is a powerful graphical front-end for administrating and monitoring MySQL servers. It integrates database management and maintenance into a single, seamless environment, with a clear and intuitive graphical user interface. MySQL Administrator is designed to simplify and maximize the effectiveness of the key tasks of a database administrator, such as server configuration, user administration and database health monitoring. Other common administrative activities such as backup and restore and log management can also be performed through the MySQL Administrator graphical user interface. ¶"MySQL Administrator is an extremely intuitive visual tool that makes managing MySQL much easier and faster," said Yazz Atlas, senior systems engineer at the Open Source Development Network (OSDN). "Now developers can quickly authenticate MySQL users and create backups, which is critical to the long-term health of a large database infrastructure. Also, optimizing and fine-tuning the server for more performance has gotten a lot easier."
