Turin Networks, Inc., a leading developer and supplier of multiservice transport platforms for telecommunications carriers worldwide, today announced that NTT Communications (NTT Com), one of the world's largest telecommunications companies, had chosen Turin's Traverse(TM) Multiservice Transport Platform to support their Ethernet Leased Line Services. NTT Com is rolling out the service, called Ether Arcstream, nationwide in Japan to both enterprise and Internet Service Provider (ISP) customers.
"We are experiencing strong demand from customers throughout Japan for reliable, high-speed data leased lines," said Mr. Masafumi Iida, Senior Manager, NTT Com. "Turin Networks Traverse platform enables us to leverage our existing SONET/SDH network to provide carrier-class Ethernet leased line services. The result is a cost-effective service offering that we can rapidly deploy to meet the requirements of our critical business and ISP customers."
NTT Com is deploying Turin's Traverse 600 on the customer premises to support the Ether Arcstream service. One of three members of the Traverse product family, the Traverse 600 is a compact, multiservice transport solution that combines next-generation SONET/SDH transport and powerful Ethernet switching capabilities in a single platform optimized for metro access applications. Utilizing flexible Ethernet traffic management and virtual LAN (VLAN) features, along with standards-based virtual concatenation and other technologies, high-bandwidth data services such as Gigabit Ethernet private lines and transparent LAN services (TLS) can be deployed with the highest levels of manageability and bandwidth efficiency.
"We are very proud that NTT Com -- one of the world's leading service providers -- has selected Turin's Traverse platform as an integral part of its Ether Arcstream Ethernet leased line service," said John Webley, president and CEO, Turin Networks. "This is another strong endorsement that our Traverse platform is the industry's leading multiservice SONET/SDH transport and Ethernet over SONET/SDH solution."
