CTIA -- O3SIS Information Technology AG, a leading provider of personal mobile applications and Over-the-Air data synchronization (DS) technology for first tier mobile network operators, today announced its new SyncML synchronization client for Pocket PC and Windows(R) Mobile Smart Phones such as the Palm(R) Treo 700 and HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger Series.
By extending its device support to the Microsoft mobile operating systems O3SIS offers the industry's most advanced, end-to-end SyncML solution which enables mobile network providers to offer a full array of handsets that can provide over-the-air synchronization for business users and consumers.
O3SIS SyncML is also ideal for businesses, allowing them to wirelessly sync PIM data, address book, calendar, and tasks with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, as well as other groupware and email systems. Not only can CIOs and IT administrators synchronize corporate data and email with Pocket PC and Windows Mobile phones, businesses can manage and distribute the same information across a wide variety of popular devices including Pocket PC, NEC, Nokia, and Sony/Ericsson.
"O3SIS SyncML allows mobile network operators to expand their service offering and subscriber usage by enabling them to wirelessly synchronize data for business users and consumers," said Dirk Doerre, CEO and CTO at O3SIS. "Operators and enterprises are no longer limited to proprietary or exclusive Microsoft-centric solutions. Our SyncML platform is based on industry standards that open up the market for smart phones and consumer handsets to maintain calendars, contacts, tasks, e-mail and other PIM data current across a variety of mobile devices. We also make it easier and less costly for businesses to install, configure, and operate synchronizable applications across the organization."
O3SIS SyncML is a key part of the company's Unified Mobile Applications (UMA) platform, which provides Over-the-Air data synchronization, a full-featured address book, mobile device backup/restore, and mobile personal information management (PIM) functionality. UMA enables operators to roll out multiple value-added services from a single, high-performance platform, significantly reducing system complexity and maintenance costs.
The O3SIS OMA DS-based Over-the-Air data synchronization technology also allows subscribers to automatically update and safeguard their valuable contact data. In the event of phone loss or theft, the operator can immediately lock the device, wipe all data for protection, and restore the data to a new phone within minutes.
