High Performance, Low Power and Scalability
¶ PMC-Sierra, Inc. (Nasdaq:PMCS) today announced that PhatNoise(R), Inc., a leading provider of automotive digital entertainment systems, has selected PMC-Sierra's 400 MHz RM5231A(TM) 64-bit MIPS-based(TM) microprocessor for their next-generation car entertainment system. PhatNoise selected the PMC-Sierra MIPS-based microprocessor for its combination of high performance, low power, and unparalleled scalability. This combination permits performance upgrades in the same footprint and minimizes software and board development costs. ¶"PMC-Sierra provides a high performance, low power solution that meets the demands of the new features for our next-generation car entertainment system, and also allows us to seamlessly upgrade performance for future products while preserving code and dollar investments," said Dannie Lau, co-founder and executive vice president at PhatNoise.
¶ PMC-Sierra's Scalable Advanced Consumer Evaluation Platform
¶ PMC-Sierra provides a scalable evaluation platform for the RM5231A, RM7035C(TM), and RM7935(TM) 64-bit MIPS-based microprocessors with a 32-bit SysAD interface that connects to the PMC-Sierra PM8172(TM) 32-bit System Controller. Available in speeds ranging from 250 MHz to 900 MHz, these microprocessors are available in an innovative packaging technology that allows seamless pin-compatible upgrades.
