Disney Connection Expands With Enhanced Video Experience, Increased Personalization and More Broadband Content; New Features Showcased at NCTA

Posted on: Monday, 10 April 2006, 09:00 CDT

Disney Online, part of the Walt Disney Internet Group, today announced an expanded content line-up and new features for Disney Connection, a premier broadband entertainment destination available through certain high-speed Internet providers that offers compelling interactive content for kids and families. The updated broadband service, which appeals to a variety of ages, now features an enhanced video experience, greater personalization options, a wider selection of content, a new interface and more. The new version of the service will be showcased in the Disney and ESPN Media Networks booth (#1237) at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) annual industry trade show, April 9-11, in Atlanta.

"Since Disney Connection launched in late 2004, we've seen the broadband market increase 51% in size with 68% of the U.S. online population currently using a broadband connection to access the Internet and this expansion embraces consumer's appetite for compelling broadband content," stated Steve Parkis, vice president of Premium Products for Disney Online. (Source: Nielsen/NetRatings 3/15/06). "Through our partners, Disney Connection offers kids and families access to premium Disney entertainment that reflects the breadth of Disney's brands in a safe, advertising-free environment."

Disney Connection's expanded content offering includes a regularly updated library of content collections including videos, games, and activities themed around popular Disney brands ranging from Mickey Mouse to Raven and appealing to a variety of ages - from preschoolers to tweens. A broader selection of movie trailers and music videos are featured through a video player and the Digital Showcase continues to feature a great selection of classic Disney cartoons for true Disney fans. The site also now allows for personalization options including choice of background theme and the ability to build a playlist by saving "favorites." The new version of Disney Connection makes it easy to find content for specific ages and topics, for example, content for younger children is accessible via a Preschool tab on the homepage.

Disney Online has partnered with leading high-speed internet service providers including Comcast, Adelphia, Mediacom and Verizon to offer Disney Connection to their subscribers as an added benefit to their regular monthly Internet service at no additional charge. The service is designed for families with kids of a variety of ages, ranging from 3-12.
