AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Added to Lenovo's New Small Business Notebook Computer

Posted on: Monday, 10 April 2006, 12:00 CDT

Biometric fingerprint sensors from AuthenTec, the world leader in fingerprint sensor security, innovation and sales, have been added to the new Lenovo 3000 N100 - a dual core, widescreen, easy-to-use notebook computer designed for small business customers.

Lenovo selected AuthenTec's EntrePad swipe sensor, which replaces the need to remember cumbersome passwords -- allowing authorized users to easily and securely access their favorite internet web sites or computer files by simply sliding their finger across the sensor surface. At the same time, the EntrePad restricts access to the computer and its files to only those enrolled - helping to reduce the risk of theft or fraud.

With AuthenTec's EntrePad, the Lenovo notebook computer also helps protect the user's vital biometric information by storing encrypted fingerprint pattern data directly on the computer itself, rather than actual fingerprint images that are sent over the internet or stored on a central database.

AuthenTec's EntrePad sensor is the most proven slide sensor for PCs available today. The sensor uses AuthenTec's award winning TruePrint technology, the only sub-surface based solution on the market.

"We are excited that Lenovo has selected AuthenTec fingerprint sensors for its newest notebook computer," said Tom Aebli, director of PC segment marketing for AuthenTec. "Adding AuthenTec's advanced sensor technology enables convenient security that protects commercial and small business computer users."

With more than 8 million sensors in use worldwide, AuthenTec is the recognized volume supplier leader - shipping nearly two thirds of all sensors sold in the PC, wireless and access control markets during the past five years. The company's sensors are used in more than 150 different notebook and tablet computers, portable hard drives, mice, keyboards, memory keys, cell phones and other devices.
