Cassatt and Sumisho Computer Systems Sign Strategic Partnership for Japan
Posted on: Wednesday, 12 April 2006, 09:00 CDT
TOKYO and SAN JOSE, Calif., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Cassatt Corporation, an innovator in providing enterprise software and services to enable agile IT infrastructures, and Sumisho Computer Systems Corp. (SCS), one of Japan's largest providers of IT solutions and services, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver Cassatt solutions to the Japanese market. The three-year agreement, which marks Cassatt's entry into the fast-growing Japanese IT market, includes commitments by both companies to deliver sales, marketing, support, training, and services to enterprise customers across Japan.
"Japan is the No. 2 IT market in the world and our strategic partnership with SCS is a demonstration of our commitment to help Japanese enterprises get more from their data centers," said Matt Green, executive vice president of worldwide field operations for Cassatt. "We're pleased to partner with SCS, leaders in their market in designing and delivering on-demand computing solutions. This is our first entry into the Japanese market space and we believe that partnering with the premier IT solutions provider in the country will accelerate new business in Japan for Cassatt and SCS."
With this agreement, SCS will begin delivering solution bundles to the Japanese market that will include the Cassatt software. Cassatt enables IT departments to deliver application service levels to support and grow business -- even under tight budget restrictions -- by automatically leveraging previously wasted computing resources. According to industry research, typical enterprise IT environments have as much as 90 percent of their hardware and software resources sitting idle at any given time, in anticipation of usage spikes. The Cassatt software creates a dynamic, virtual pool of resources that business applications can draw from, using existing software, servers, and networks. Cassatt then automatically, and without human intervention, manages and optimizes these resources.
As part of this partnership, SCS will leverage its expertise in delivering a wide range of IT services and products to the Japanese market. Founded in 1969, SCS can provide enterprise solutions, engineering solutions, outsourcing services, systems platform solutions, network exchange attached data center solutions for on-demand computing, and global business network solutions.
"Enterprise customers in Japan are looking at how they can provide higher levels of service from their data centers without major new investments but rather by leveraging more from their current IT infrastructure," said Hidekazu Sakurai, executive vice president of SCS. "As leaders in Japan in developing innovative approaches that meet these demanding IT requirements, we look forward to partnering with Cassatt to bring the best solutions to our customers."
Cassatt and SCS have been working together for over a year to validate the market demand and identify target customers. Additionally, this year-long effort has resulted in the creation of a customer demonstration center in Tokyo and the training of SCS support staff throughout Japan. Cassatt and SCS are already engaged in Japan with several major customers in the consumer electronics, food and beverage, telecommunications, and educational markets.
