Yahoo! Appoints Ash Patel Chief Product Officer

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO), a leading global Internet company, today announced the appointment of Ash Patel to chief product officer. Formerly senior vice president of platform engineering at Yahoo!, Patel will now be responsible for global product strategy and development, identifying future product trends and emerging technologies, and serve as an advocate for users across the Yahoo! network. Patel will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Dan Rosensweig.

"Ash brings the technical expertise and product vision that will ensure the continued excellence and expansion of Yahoo!'s product portfolio," said Rosensweig. "I look forward to working with him to build new, innovative products that provide the best possible experience to millions of Yahoo! users around the world."

As part of his new role, Patel will be responsible for Yahoo!'s centralized services groups, including product and strategy development, network and community services, communications services, editorial and policy, and user experience and design. Patel will work closely with product leaders across the company to enhance Yahoo!'s product development processes, improve speed of execution, and deliver new, innovative, high-quality services.

Patel joined Yahoo! in 1996 and is one of the company's true product visionaries. He has been a strong advocate for the development of some of its most important services and platforms, such as personalization, community, and communications. He was a major contributor to the creation of My Yahoo!, identifying early on the opportunity for a personalized experience on the Internet, and was instrumental in building Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Finance.

Patel holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Computer Science from the Kings College University of London.
