Metrobility Optical Systems Completes EMS Beta Test With Major South American Service Provider; Begins Shipment of NetBeacon(R) ESP Network Management System
Posted on: Tuesday, 18 April 2006, 12:00 CDT
Metrobility Optical Systems, a leading optical networking company providing carrier Ethernet connectivity, access, wavelength multiplexing and management solutions, today announced that its next-generation element management system (EMS), NetBeacon ESP, has completed an extensive beta test with a major South American service provider and is now shipping.
NetBeacon was designed to meet service providers' need to scale for very large networks, to identify severity of alarms quickly and to route that alarm to the appropriate technician, and to allow strict port-level access control policies system wide. Real-time monitoring of line quality, laser power, and equipment temperature and power enable proactive maintenance that can decrease network outages and increase customer uptime.
NetBeacon(R) ESP is an integral part of Metrobility's carrier Ethernet product line. It provides an extensible and secure element management system for the Company's Radiance product family. NetBeacon ESP incorporates an easy-to-use interface to support secure, centralized provisioning and management of a large, geographically dispersed network.
To meet the stringent demands of network administrators, NetBeacon ESP supports the FCAPS (fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security) attributes for network management. Authorized users can manage each Metrobility device from any designated NetBeacon ESP management station to provision services, monitor performance, and respond to alarms.
NetBeacon ESP's headless server architecture creates an 'always on' management system to ensure that element information is constantly being monitored. A sophisticated hierarchy of alarm notifications can be customized by the administrator based on severity. Alarm notifications include audible alarms, visual color-coded alarms, and alarm notification via email, phone or pager.
