Netopia Launches New Private Label PC Remote Access Service for Broadband Carriers
Posted on: Wednesday, 19 April 2006, 09:00 CDT
Netopia, Inc. (OTCBB:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways and service-delivery software, introduced Timbuktu(R) ToGo Private Label, a turnkey solution that enables carriers and service providers to offer a branded PC remote access service to their subscribers. Broadband access companies can differentiate their service offerings and generate increased revenues by offering easy-to-use Web-based remote access capabilities to subscribers.
Leveraging nearly two decades of remote control technology from Netopia's award-winning Timbuktu Pro software, Timbuktu ToGo takes remote control technology to the next level by allowing subscribers to easily and securely access their computers from any location through a Web browser. Timbuktu ToGo has a range of customizable delivery and service options that allow carriers and service providers to tailor their PC remote access service for their subscribers, providing improved overall quality of service and increased customer satisfaction.
"As people become more reliant on their computers, they want the convenience and security of being able to access information stored on their personal computer from any location, just like they do with Web-based e-mail," said Ray Smets, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Netopia. "For operators and providers, offering subscribers a privately branded remote access service is a way to generate additional revenue, while increasing customer satisfaction. Timbuktu ToGo addresses these needs with an easy-to-use solution that cost-effectively delivers an attractive, practical, and profitable service for carriers and subscribers alike."
How Timbuktu ToGo Works
Because the Timbuktu ToGo service is easy to use, it is well suited for mass deployment to subscribers, regardless of their technical proficiency. Once a subscriber creates an account, they enable remote access to their computer by simply clicking on a link in their Timbuktu ToGo home page that automatically installs a thin client to enable the remote access service. From that point on, through a Web browser on any computer connected to the Internet, subscribers can remotely access and control their computer as though sitting in front of it.
Designed for the Carrier
Timbuktu ToGo is hosted by Netopia, which enables providers to quickly roll out the service without costly capital investments or high overhead. For easy management, the service integrates seamlessly into operators' existing business models and OSS systems -- including authentication, billing, reporting, and customer relationship management (CRM). Separate reporting features are also available through the Timbuktu ToGo management service.
Timbuktu ToGo Private Label also allows service providers and carriers to offer a range of customized branding and service options to their subscribers, including hourly, daily, or monthly service subscriptions. Free trial periods and promotional offers can also be implemented and tailored for specific marketing programs and periods of time.
