Altiris and Fujitsu Siemens Computers Demonstrate Client Manageability at CeBIT 2004

HANNOVER, Germany - CeBIT - March 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Altiris, Inc. , a pioneer of IT lifecycle management solutions that reduce the total cost of owning IT resources, today announced it will team with Fujitsu Siemens Computers to demonstrate new client management capabilities at CeBIT 2004. The Altiris management solution also provides existing server management capabilities for the Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY Server line.

With demonstrations at the Fujitsu Siemens Computers main booth in Hall 1, stand 5e2, CeBIT attendees will have the first look at the new, integrated Fujitsu Siemens Computers DeskView and Altiris solution and products including:

-- New Altiris integration with Fujitsu Siemens Computers DeskView 10.1:

DeskView and Altiris solutions combine to provide detailed Fujitsu

Siemens Computers client data and management capabilities (e.g.

comprehensive hardware inventory and monitoring, remote BIOS

management, and power management) in addition to Altiris(R) IT

lifecycle management functions that include a single data repository,

automated software and task management and cross vendor hardware and

software inventory, all now available from one Altiris Web-based

management console.

-- The new ManageIT Suites: These joint solutions are based on Altiris

software and will help customers save time and money on dedicated

client management tasks. For example, the ManageIT Suite Migration

integrates and automates functions like Windows 2000 or XP deployment,

migration of unique end-user data, settings and configurations, and

ongoing management.

According to Gartner research, "Enterprises should focus on improving manageability to achieve bigger total cost of ownership reductions ... A well-managed Windows 2000 environment would reduce TCO by as much as 46 percent (considering the client only) compared to an unmanaged Windows 98 or NTW4 environment (0.7 probability)."*

Fujitsu Siemens Computers distributes Altiris IT lifecycle management solutions to customers through its distribution channels. Apart from this distribution agreement, a memorandum of understanding has been signed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Altiris to integrate the new DeskView 10.1, developed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, into the Altiris 6 infrastructure.
