Anchiva Systems' Internet Gateway Security Solution Breaks Content Inspection Bottlenecks

Posted on: Monday, 24 April 2006, 06:00 CDT

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchiva Systems(TM), an innovative provider for content security protection, announced today the availability of the Anchiva Enterprise Content Security Appliance product line, Internet gateway devices that help remove spyware, spam and viruses. The Anchiva-2000X, designed for the largest enterprises and service providers, is the fastest gateway security solution with the ability to scan at near-gigabit line rates. Anchiva's high speed, patent-pending technology delivers a scaleable solution needed to scan the volumes of messages passing through today's high speed networks without fear of network bottlenecks.

"Spyware and viruses have become an aggressive and constant threat to the integrity of our students' information, requiring time consuming and constant vigilance for our IT department," said Dr. Bill Wu, Director, office of operations, Northwestern Polytechnic University. "The Anchiva content inspection system is a comprehensive solution that provides us the ability to block spyware and viruses before it enters our network and permits us to focus on more strategic activities."

Anchiva Systems' Technology

Anchiva's patent-pending technology of optimized, pattern-matching algorithms and ASIC acceleration combined with a high-speed memory bus brings new levels of inspection speed to content protection. ASICs (application-specific integrated chips) allow the processor's intensive matching functions to be performed at speeds compatible to Gigabit Ethernet networks.

Anchiva can attribute its high performance rates to its programmable search engine that accesses its 1 million-signature database stored in high speed memory. With more than 70,000 malware identified and new ones discovered every day, Anchiva's extensive database has the capacity to protect against dormant malware with long lifecycles, such as keyboard loggers, and still accommodate new malware signatures. The Anchiva solution delivers true scalability for the enterprise to deploy an Internet gateway security solution broadly.

"With the incredible volume of spyware, spam and viruses that enterprise businesses must now manage, Infonetics has been predicting that gateway systems with comprehensive protection would replace stand-alone content inspection devices," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst, Infonetics. "These gateway appliances will coexist with current firewalls and must have hardware-accelerated speeds to address the intensive performance requirements of high volume content inspection."

The Anchiva Systems Content Security Appliance

Anchiva Systems Content Security Appliance is available today as four offerings, each designed for small-to-medium enterprises to large enterprises and service providers. Anchiva is the most comprehensive security system that protects against spyware, spam and viruses for the most commonly used Internet content protocols today (SMTP, HTTP, FTP and POP3).

-- Anchiva-2000X system provides unmatched performance with the ability to achieve near-gigabit line rate antivirus scanning rates for large enterprises and service providers. This unit may be deployed in high availability pairs or clustered for superior performance levels needed for mission-critical environments. -- Anchiva-1000 and Anchiva-1000X systems, qualified for enterprises with 1,000 users, are available in either a standard or an accelerated hardware platform. -- Anchiva-500, designed for small enterprise businesses with 200 end users, offers all the feature rich capabilities as the high performance units but at an affordable price point.

"With the advent of drive-by installations of spyware, phishing and keyboard logging, the sophistication and dynamic nature of malware has created a state of siege for the enterprise," said Richard Hanke, vice president of business development and marketing, Anchiva Systems. "Business cannot afford security holes or protection that slows down business operations. Customers can now consider a comprehensive, centralized solution with up-to-date protection that protects all entry points into the network."
