BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, today announced that it has opened a new research and development facility in India. BladeLogic Software Services Pvt. Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, is located in Pune, India. As an integral part of BladeLogic's global research and development organization, the R&D facility in India will help BladeLogic significantly increase its software engineering capacity to expand and enhance its award-winning and industry-leading suite of data center automation software.
Data center automation has emerged as a large new market opportunity in IT as organizations have transitioned their data centers from legacy computing platforms to the web computing model. This architectural change has created a discontinuity in the marketplace because existing software solutions are not designed to effectively address today's data center management challenges. Since the company's inception in 2001, BladeLogic has established itself as one of the most compelling new software technology companies through its strong financial performance, the size and quality of its customer base, and recognition by leading industry analysts as the leader of the $10 billion data center automation market.
To support the company's rapid growth, BladeLogic decided to build its first development facility outside the United States. The new research and development center in Pune, one of India's fastest growing technology centers, provides the company with access to a large pool of exceptional software engineering talent, enabling BladeLogic to rapidly augment its existing software development operations in the U.S.
With its numerous hosting facilities and vastly improved networking infrastructure, India is now regarded as one of the world's prominent areas for locating data centers. In addition to supporting the company's research and development operations, BladeLogic India will also serve as the base for the company's sales and marketing initiatives in Southeast Asia. BladeLogic plans to aggressively build out both its R&D and sales operations in India over the next two years, and expects to have 150 people in India by the end of 2007.
"BladeLogic has undergone tremendous growth over the last few years due to the increasing global demand for our data center automation software," said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO, BladeLogic. "With BladeLogic's R&D facility in Pune, India, we can leverage the vast talent pool in India to support our rapid growth. The facility will also serve as our sales and marketing headquarters for India, providing us with a significant presence in one of the world's fastest growing markets. BladeLogic India will be strategic to the company's future success and we look forward to significantly expanding our operations in the region."
"After initially being recognized as a hub for IT services, India has emerged as an important center for product development due to the country's large number of software engineers," said Monish Darda, General Manager, BladeLogic India. "Pune, in particular, is quickly becoming an important technology area with many global firms opening offices there to leverage the region's highly-trained local software talent. By opening its R&D facility in Pune, BladeLogic is not only expanding its global presence, but is adding tremendous resources to an already outstanding software engineering team. I am very excited to help build and manage the BladeLogic organization in India."
