Cavium Networks Announces Customer Sampling of Single- and Dual-Core OCTEON(TM) MIPS64(R) Processors; Demonstrates OCTEON Family and Partner Solutions at INTEROP 2006

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium Networks, a world leader in security, network services and embedded processor solutions, today announced that OCTEON CN31XX single- and dual-core processors have been sampling to early customers since March 2006. Cavium Networks will be demonstrating the new 1 and 2 core OCTEON processors as well as the OCTEON XL Accelerator NIC cards in booth #1960 at INTEROP 2006, taking place at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas from May 2-May 4, 2006. Cavium Networks processors are shipping today and being designed into market-leading networking equipment such as routers, Unified Threat Management appliances, Layer4+ content-aware switches, modular chassis switches, Network Access Control equipment, 3G wireless equipment, broadband router and wireless LAN access/aggregation points.
The CN31XX single- and dual-core chips are members of Cavium Networks' OCTEON family of Multi-core MIPS64 Processors, the most scalable, highest-performance, and lowest-power solution for intelligent networking applications ranging from 100Mbps to over 10Gbps. This family of software-compatible processors, with one to sixteen cnMIPS cores on a single chip, integrate next-generation networking I/Os along with the most advanced security and application hardware acceleration, offering unprecedented throughput and programmability for Layer 2 through Layer 7 processing requirements of intelligent networks.
Leading Hardware ODM and Software companies: iNET Systems (an IWILL company), Asustek, Lanbird, WindRiver, 6WIND and Intoto will also present powerful solutions that complement Cavium Networks silicon and enable rapid time to market for customers.
Cavium Networks Hardware ODM partners will demonstrate a wide range of custom, flexible motherboards and ATCA boards for networking OEMs and server applications. Hardware partners iNET, Asustek will display a range of OCTEON based networking boards with integrated 8x Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit connectivity, SATA controllers and USB 2.0. IWILL will also display an x86 networking motherboard with the NITROX(R) security processor. Lanbird will show the first ATCA-based OCTEON boards available for OEM customers.
Cavium Networks Software partners will exhibit operating systems, development environments, protocol-level toolkits and complete embedded application software, all ported and optimized to work with Cavium Networks' processors. WindRiver offers Vxworks(R) support for OCTEON. 6WIND, a leading provider of embedded IP networking software, will demonstrate their 6WINDGate(TM) software on OCTEON. Intoto, a provider of embedded UTM solutions, will demonstrate their iGateway software running on OCTEON in their booth (#901).
