Ubiquity Software Launches the Industry's First Developer Network to Accelerate Commercialization of SIP Applications

Ubiquity Developer Network (UDN) Provides Commercial Ecosystem for ISVs, Developers, Systems Integrators, Network Equipment Vendors and Service Providers

Ubiquity Software (LSE:UBQ), creators of the most widely adopted standards-based, carrier-grade SIP Application Server (SIP A/S), today announced the launch of the Ubiquity Developer Network (UDN), the industry's first community of developers, Ubiquity partners and customers with a common interest in exploiting the commercial opportunities for new services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) standard. UDN will shorten time-to-market and expand the availability of a broader range of new multimedia Internet applications, such as Voice over IP, multiplayer gaming, and location-based services.

SIP has become accepted as a mature and commercially-viable Internet Protocol (IP) standard that is being widely adopted by global carriers and large enterprises that plan to deploy a new generation of converged services. The creation of UDN fills a gap in the market for new SIP applications and demonstrates Ubiquity's commitment to provide an open forum to drive the creation of SIP applications for today's fixed line and wireless applications, and emerging IP Multimedia Service (IMS) networks. Ubiquity has established an online community for UDN at www.developer.ubiquitysoftware.com.

Over 30 companies have signed up to be charter members of the Ubiquity Developer Network.

The worldwide market for SIP infrastructure and software is expected to exceed $5.5 billion by 2007 with a compound annual growth rate of 36.1 percent according to estimates by Venture Development Corporation (VDC). According to VDC's report, factors driving the SIP market include replacement of the existing infrastructure by service providers and large enterprises; the explosive growth of VoIP; and the growth of new applications such as new presence, location, and video applications.

To support the SIP applications development community, Ubiquity has launched the UDN web portal located at www.developer.ubiquitysoftware.com. The UDN website provides access to resources for applications developers, including developer forums, technical information, tips and training, software developer tools, libraries, code samples and templates, and testing facilities designed to accelerate SIP development. In addition, developers who are UDN members also will gain access to business development opportunities, such as business cases and RFQs/RFPs issued by carriers for applications development and integration services associated with planned trials and commercial deployments.

Through UDN, Ubiquity will build on its history of leadership established through the SIP Center, a web portal focused on the commercial development of SIP. To date, more than 8,000,000 SIP calls have been placed by thousands of developers around the world through the SIP Center Network Server, a hosted SIP testing platform using Ubiquity's SIP A/S.
