ATLANTA, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- CTIA WIRELESS 2004 -- Bluefire Security Technologies today announced that it is offering its handheld security software to enterprise users of Samsung's i700 Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(TM)-based Pocket PC phone. Through this software solution, users of Samsung phones will have the option to install Bluefire Mobile Firewall Plus to protect their i700 phones from security breaches.
Mobile and wireless devices are quickly becoming preferred vehicles for enterprise data delivery, making them more popular targets for attack. Bluefire Mobile Firewall Plus is designed to protect handhelds from snooping, data theft or hack attacks launched through the handheld or the Internet. Bluefire conducted extensive testing of their solution on the Samsung i700 to ensure that it was optimized to protect the device without draining performance or battery life.
"Samsung's i700 device combines advanced voice and computing applications with fast Web access, offering mobile workers unparalleled functionality," said Tom Goodman, vice president of business development and operations for Bluefire Security. "By providing Samsung customers with security software specially designed for converged devices, we are allowing them to take advantage of all of the benefits of mobile computing without compromising the security of their corporate information."
Bluefire Mobile Firewall Plus is uniquely designed to secure both handheld devices and the enterprise networks to which they connect. Its rules-based personal firewall engine resides on the device, is easy to configure and customize, and protects against multiple attacks. In addition, the solution provides real-time logging and alerting of all device-level activities, which allow administrators and end-users to detect intrusions and identify attack methods for quick and effective problem isolation.
The Samsung i700 offers users the advanced features of a Samsung wireless phone combined with access to popular and familiar mobile versions of Microsoft's Pocket Outlook(R), Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket Word and Pocket Excel. Additionally, the i700 has a built-in digital camera and Internet access via Verizon Wireless' high-speed data network.
