SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will feature the industry's first 12-port, single-chip 10 Gigabit Ethernet Layer-2 switch at the annual Server Blade Summit, March 9-11, at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose.
The new 10Gbps Ethernet switch IC includes 12 ports and features a wire- speed capacity of 240Gbps, along with a very low latency of only 450ns. It includes SERDES and XAUI interfaces so system designers can develop compact and cost-effective switches that deliver maximum performance. The switch chip uses high-performance, integrated 10G MAC, shared memory, and proprietary scheduling algorithms to deliver data at 10Gbps Ethernet line-rates, with very low latency. This device is targeted for server, data center, cluster systems, storage networks, and enterprise switching applications.
Fujitsu also will present a complete technical analysis of the 10Gbps Ethernet technology, entitled "A Single-Chip 10Gbps Ethernet Switch for New Generation of Server, Storage Applications." Yukihiko Nakagawa, a senior member of the research staff at Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Inc., will make the presentation at session 101, scheduled for March 10 at 8:30 am.
Nakagawa, who has more than 15 years of experience in computer design and five in interconnect design, served as the technical leader in defining the basic architecture and specification for the device. He will discuss the importance of this new 12-port 10Gbps Ethernet chip and how it will help build high-performance blade servers at very low cost.
