Netopia Appoints Network Management Expert Dr. Geng Lin to Lead Software Development; Veteran of Cisco, Lucent, and Nortel to Accelerate Netopia's Service Assurance Software Strategy for the Carrier and Service Provider Market

Netopia, Inc. (OTCBB:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways, remote device management, and support software, announced Dr. Geng Lin has joined the company as vice president, application and server software engineering. Dr. Lin will be responsible for developing Netopia's portfolio of service and delivery assurance software solutions, including the Netopia Broadband Server (NBBS), the company's TR-069 remote device management platform. He will also lead engineering for Netopia's Timbuktu Pro, eCare, and netOctopus solutions for service assurance and remote support across carriers, service providers, and enterprise markets.

Dr. Lin brings more than 13 years of experience in communications software and network management. He most recently served as a director of engineering for Cisco Systems, where he coordinated Cisco's connected home management initiative and led research and development in emerging technologies for multiple software products in network management and home network services. Prior to Cisco, Dr. Lin was the director of product strategy for the network and service management division at Nortel Networks and the chief architect for Lucent Technologies' OneVision Enterprise Network Management program.
