Mindreef Extends Leadership in SOA Testing and Diagnostics With Enhanced New Version of Mindreef SOAPscope; Powerful New Features Provide Advanced Testing, Diagnostics and Analysis

Mindreef(R), Inc. today announced the availability of Mindreef SOAPscope(R) version 5.1, a significant update to the company's highly-acclaimed solution for Web services testing and diagnostics. With version 5.1, Mindreef SOAPscope incorporates a number of robust new testing, diagnostics, and analysis features that were developed based on feedback from thousands of Mindreef customers.
"We've been watching the Web services bell curve shift as our customers successfully make the transition from traditional architectures with Web services, to more broad-based service-oriented architectures," said Frank Grossman, Mindreef president and co-founder. "This makes it even more imperative that quality be built into the development and testing process from the start. With SOAPscope 5.1, we answer this need by providing Web service professionals with a robust and comprehensive set of tools to help them meet this critical goal, reliably and affordably."
Advanced New Features for Current and Emerging Needs
Mindreef SOAPscope version 5.1 builds upon award-winning Web services testing capabilities with powerful new features, including:
Automated Testing - SOAPscope 5.1 allows users to create and perform automated testing, regardless of whether they have knowledge of XML and scripting. This allows everyone involved in the Web services lifecycle, from hands-on developers to high-level business analysts, to participate in quality assurance and verification throughout the entire lifecycle. Automated testing also allows users to create a sequence of SOAP messages that can be replayed as a batch and stored for re-testing later in the process. This makes it possible to capture values from messages into variables and reuse them, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the testing process.
Web Service Simulation - Create simulations of Web services that can serve as a prototype of a service before it exists, stand-in for a service that is unavailable, or act as a 'mock service' for testing purposes. A simulation is easily created, without coding, by capturing SOAP messages, that, when used together, simulate an existing service. A simulation can also be created directly from a WSDL by using SOAPscope's powerful invoke forms.
Support for Multiple Workspaces - SOAPscope 5.1 allows for the creation and editing of multiple workspaces directly within the product, making it possible to switch easily between several separate open workspaces. This process drives greater efficiency into the Web services development process by eliminating the need to continuously import and export individual workspaces.
Enhanced Web Service Invoke/Resend - Creating and resending SOAPscope messages with a fill-in-the-blank invoke form--one of SOAPscope's most popular features--has been greatly expanded in version 5.1. Specifically, the new version allows users to 'round trip' between SOAPscope's Pseudocode View(TM) and XML view, including the ability to edit a message in XML and view the changes as Pseudocode. In addition, SOAPscope's resend capability is now schema aware, so that full invoke form capability is available even when resending messages.
Contract Documentation - SOAPscope 5.1 provides a richer WSDL viewing capability, providing detailed online documentation that is automatically generated from a captured WSDL contract. This provides users with a deeper and more detailed understanding of a Web service, helping them make more effective use of that service.
Other new features in Mindreef SOAPscope 5.1 include integration with Microsoft(R) Visual Studio(R) 2005, SOAP message differencing in Pseudocode View, full compatibility with Mindreef Coral(TM), and improved SSL certificate management and control of SSL authentication policy.
"In my experience consulting to large financial services firms like Wells Fargo and Ameriprise Financial, I've relied on SOAPscope as a vital tool for helping to drive quality into the Web services development lifecycle," noted Tom Igielski, President and CEO of Thomas Consulting Group. "And the valuable new features in version 5.1 make it even more important that companies bring SOAPscope into the process as early as possible."
"The new version of SOAPscope provides a powerful new level of functionality that meets a critical need for Web service professionals who are building industry-leading Web services used in large-scale financial services and enterprise environments," said Grossman. "With the release of Mindreef SOAPscope 5.1, we're continuing to grow our product line to address the real-world needs of our customers building, testing and supporting Web services throughout the service-oriented lifecycle."
