PUEBLO OF POJOAQUE: Training Center is Offering Computer Classes

May 10--The Pueblo of Pojoaque Training Center is offering various computer classes for people of all ages.

The sole mission of the training center is to provide Pueblo members and residents of surrounding communities with the training that can enhance their work and life skills, according to the facility's Web site. The site also gives links to a class calendar, course catalog and other services for members.

Classes on Microsoft software, keyboarding and Introduction to Windows are just a few of the more than 30 sessions offered at the center.

Each class is limited to 10 students, and if too few students apply, the center will cancel the course.

Seniors often struggle with computer devices, multitasking, using the control panel, customizing a desktop, Windows Explorer and the recycle bin when learning how to use their computers, center director Michael Lopez said. Therefore, he said, he hopes many seniors will sign up.

Courses are taught by qualified teachers, Lopez said.

The center has 28 computers and offers column-free, complementary, high-speed broadband wireless Internet access, complementary audiovisual equipment and a whiteboard with markers and eraser for those who want to rent the space for conferences.
