Messaging Architects' GWAnywhere 5.0 Optimizes Wireless GroupWise Experience
Posted on: Wednesday, 10 May 2006, 12:07 CDT
Messaging Architects, a leading developer of directory-based solutions that address the need for policy, security and compliance, and mobility in the corporate GroupWise infrastructure announced the availability of GWAnywhere Version 5.0, a highly scalable wireless email solution that brings enterprise-class mobility capabilities to organizations that rely on Novell GroupWise for their collaboration need deploying email to the field. Designed as a carrier-independent and device-agnostic solution, GWAnywhere 5.0 supports over 100 mobile devices, including devices running on Windows Mobile 5.0 and the Nokia Series 60. GWAnywhere has also passed the Cingular Wireless Solution Certification and is included in Cingular's Certified Software Solutions Directory.
From an end-user perspective, GWAnywhere 5.0 is efficient and well-designed and simplifies the end-user experience. The software's power requirements have been minimized to allow that most devices remain in always-connected mode longer before requiring a re-charge. GWAnywhere 5.0 also features increased sync transparency on all Windows Mobile devices and an enhanced MailPlus client for Palm OS-based devices.
The GWAnywhere 5.0 release also includes a connectivity intelligence feature that automatically verifies the settings specified by the administrator or end user during install. The GWAnywhere server supports custom scripts to be used by individual clients during a sync session for improved flexibility in addressing individual needs of mobile users.
In addition to the product's end-user interface improvements, IT administrators will appreciate GWAnywhere's enhanced backend capabilities. The GWAnywhere Monitoring Service is a unique wireless email monitoring tool that supplies IT professionals with tools to monitor the deployment from any location. A web-based console provides multi-user access to the GWAnywhere Monitor for detailed statistics on the overall health of the server components. If the monitor detects an issue, it can take corrective, self-healing actions automatically and/or notify IT personnel, thus optimizing server uptime. The GWAnywhere Monitor also provides performance statistics, such as average synchronization times and current users.
Addressing the needs of the mobile enterprise, enhancements to GWAnywhere 5.0 provide even greater scalability and fault-tolerance. Lab testing simulating real-world scenarios indicates that server scalability can reach upwards of 1,000 users on a single GWAnywhere server and tens of thousands of users in a multi-server environment. The solution is primarily targeted towards medium and large-scale enterprise-class GroupWise-based deployments.
"What we are offering organizations using GroupWise as their collaboration system are significant improvements on how IT can manage and scale wireless email solutions throughout their organization," explained Michael Mastine, Product Manager at Messaging Architects. "The GWAnywhere 5.0 release further validates that we offer one platform that can fulfill the needs of the enterprise both today and tomorrow. This is an important consideration for any organization interested in future-proofing their investment in mobile technologies."
