Firefighters Contain 10-Acre Wildfire Near West Palm Before It Spreads

May 10--WEST PALM BEACH -- Firefighters have contained a 10-acre wildfire that was threatening homes west of the city off Haverhill Road.
The blaze erupted around noon, but was under control by about 12:40 p.m.
No homes were damaged nor were there any injuries reported. No homes were officially evacuated although several homeowners fled their residences as the smoke and flames neared.
The fire area was off Haverhill and polcie shut down its intersection with Ernest Street just south of the Fox Hall neighborhood for a while.
No word yet on what caused the blaze.
Firefighters from the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County fire rescue units fought the blaze.
