May 11--San Antonio-based Sigma Solutions, a computer services and hardware reseller, has bought Houston-based SIS Technologies.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sigma's acquisition of SIS Technologies will double Sigma's annual revenue to $102 million this year, said Scott Gruendler, president of Sigma Solutions. Sigma, founded in 1998, has 100 employees, including 35 in San Antonio.

Sigma now has branch locations in Houston, Austin, Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Santa Fe, N.M., and Emeryville, Calif.

The acquisition positions Sigma to become a dominant provider of computer technology to big companies in Texas, Gruendler said.

"With the acquisition, Texas-wise, we are probably one of the biggest integrators out there right now," he said.

Sigma Solutions' customers include H.E. Butt Grocery Co., Tesoro Petroleum and other large companies. Most of its customers are Fortune 500 companies in business, medical, government and education, he said.

San Antonio has a thriving base of computer resellers including Computer Solutions, Sirius Computer Solutions and Mobius Partners Server Solutions.

Sigma specializes in consulting services, design and maintenance of large computer systems. It also offers products and services for radio frequency identification technology at its test center in Hutchins. Sigma offers products from Sun Microsystems, EMC, Symantec, Hitachi Data Systems, Microsoft, Oracle and Vignette.

"What we've built now is a very talented technical pool of people," Gruendler said. "We probably have 35 or more high-end engineers that can support any piece of business we are chasing."
