The scope of the contract is the turnkey supply and installation of Point-to-Multipoint radio equipment (INTRACOM TELECOM's IAS-W system) in more than 1,000 sites of STE's Access Network over a period of three years. The project will be implemented in 8 provinces of Syria, providing telephony and data services to more than 144,000 subscribers.
STE is the leading telecommunications service provider of Syria offering high quality country-wide services. The project will support STE's strategy to significantly increase its customer base using innovative, state-of-the-art technologies.
Dr. Haitham Chedyak, STE Director General said:
[The project concerns] "providing telecommunication services in rural areas, to increase the socio-economical living standards in those areas and will help (resolve) the problem of centralization.
Mr. Alexandros Manos, INTRACOM TELECOM Managing Director said: "This contract further strengthens the strategic partnership between STE and our company. Recognizing in advance the requirements for rapid growth of communications services in the Middle East and North Africa, we have over the past decade focused and invested in building our presence and establishing strong partnerships with the major regional service providers. INTRACOM Telecom has been successfully implementing large-scale, turn-key telecom projects in the EEMEA (Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region for over twenty years and is fully committed to employ this experience towards the further development and expansion of STE's network."
INTRACOM TELECOM's IAS-W system is specifically designed to provide high quality and cost-effective telecommunications services to semi-urban and rural areas. The system's unparalleled deployment flexibility allows STE to meet its service requirements, overcoming the topographical complexities and the wide residential spread of the target expansion area.
