Vidiom Systems, Inc. Releases Version 1.0 of VISION Workbench OCAP Application Development Software

BROOMFIELD, Colo., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Vidiom Systems, Inc., a leading provider of technology solutions to the cable and consumer electronics industries, today announced the 1.0 release of its VISION Workbench OCAP Application Development Software.

VISION Workbench is the industry's leading OCAP application development environment and includes an OCAP set-top box simulator built with OCAP technology developed by Vidiom for the OCAP Development LLC, which is comprised of Time Warner Cable and Comcast Cable.

Vidiom designed its OCAP Set-top Box Simulator and OCAP Project Wizard as plug-ins to the popular Eclipse platform and integrated them with the Eclipse Java IDE and debugger to create a seamless OCAP application development environment. VISION Workbench allows developers to code and test OCAP applications while sitting at their PC without purchasing additional equipment or paying for application deployment royalties.

VISION Workbench 1.0 has passed the Sun Java Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK) for CDC and PBP 1.0 and includes the following features:

* Channel Map and Headend Simulator * Bound and Unbound Application Support * SI API Support * 10 Sample Applications with Source Code * Application Developer Guide, API Reference Manual, and On-line Help

OCAP is part of the OpenCable initiative created by CableLabs and has been adopted as a standard by the SCTE and other standards organizations. The goals of the OpenCable initiative are to provide a unified, open standard that allows programmers to deploy interactive services over multiple cable networks, enable supplier competition, and create a retail market for digital cable receivers.
