Posted on: Tuesday, 16 March 2004, 06:00 CST
AUSTIN, Texas, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Motive, Inc., a software provider that makes technology products and services self-managing, announced that its management technology will support Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 and Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000. As part of this support, Motive's patented modeling and differencing technology will leverage the rich, pervasively available management intelligence built into MOM 2000 and SMS 2003 to help make enterprise computing environments self-managing. The combination of Motive and Microsoft software solutions will enable customers to reduce the time and skyrocketing costs associated with managing technology products and services delivered through today's service-centric architecture.
"Motive's model-based approach to technology management leverages the manageability inherent in the Windows platform," said David Hamilton, director of the Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. "Utilizing SMS and MOM instrumentation, Motive is helping customers realize the self-management benefits of the Dynamic Systems Initiative today."
Today's computing environments consist of millions of constantly changing, interconnected technology products and services that extend beyond physical enterprise and datacenter boundaries. The ability to leverage the native instrumentation built into these products and services, like Microsoft's, is a requirement for anyone looking to manage such environments.
"Exploiting Microsoft management technology is a natural progression of our seven-year history of supporting standards-based, open instrumentation," said Brian Vetter, chief technology officer of Motive. "By linking Motive's management software with SMS 2003 and MOM 2000, customers can have self- managing technology today. This means they can immediately eliminate many of the manual processes associated with the upkeep of their computing environments."
