Globecomm Systems Awarded Contract Valued at $1.3 Million to Build-Out IPTV Infrastructure Enabling the Delivery of IP Video Services
Posted on: Monday, 15 May 2006, 12:05 CDT
Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a global provider of end-to-end value-added satellite-based communications solutions, today announced that the Company has received a $1.3 million contract to build-out IPTV infrastructure enabling the delivery of IP video services.
David Hershberg, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Globecomm Systems Inc., said: "Telecom companies are pushing IP-based video to the top of their next-generation service agendas. IPTV infrastructure build-out is being accelerated by competition from the cable industry, which is successfully eroding the telecom operators voice subscriber base with multi-service offerings of their own. Globecomm has announced multiple contracts awards supporting the build-out of IPTV infrastructure since September 2005. Investing in the personnel, laboratories and marketing efforts supporting IPTV infrastructure build-out is a major priority for the Company at this time."
