Posted on: Monday, 15 May 2006, 15:03 CDT
Peerless Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: PRLS), a provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies and components to the digital document market, today announced its PeerlessNet(TM) suite of software development kits (SDKs). The PeerlessNet suite of products is a modular, standards-based family of advanced networking technologies comprised of comprehensive security, web services, MFP messaging functionality and a software print server. The four new SDKs provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) additional flexibility and portability for their network-connected devices.
Built on an open source platform, PeerlessNet products enable OEMs to achieve a faster time-to-market with ease of integration features designed in which allow them to concentrate on their unique market differentiation. By adhering to the POSIX-compliant operating system interface, PeerlessNet products feature outstanding portability to VxWorks, Linux and other operating systems enabling OEMs to transport and adapt any PeerlessNet module to a new operating environment with less effort. PeerlessNet protects OEM in-house technology investments by providing a core platform on which OEMs can add their unique value.
"Peerless acknowledges the pressure OEMs are under to match their solutions to satisfy various customer requirements," said Peerless VP of sales and marketing, Ed Gaughan. "PeerlessNet gives our OEM customers the advanced technologies they need with the added benefit of flexibility to design appropriate solutions on an individual customer basis. The leading-edge technologies in PeerlessNet have been designed to allow OEMs to focus on their core business and ultimately improve and protect their proprietary development endeavors."
PeerlessNet NetPrint SDK
The PeerlessNet NetPrint SDK acts as a base printing module that OEMs can utilize to offer print server functionality. The NetPrint SDK features network management capabilities including HP Web Jetadmin compatibility as well as easy-to-implement API interface points and a small memory footprint. The availability of additional PeerlessNet capabilities offers OEMs the ability to achieve full functionality or integrate only the modules they require with their own networking codes. The modularity of PeerlessNet allows OEMs to build a variety of solutions to meet the individual requirements of each market segment.
PeerlessNet Security SDK
The PeerlessNet Security SDK makes advanced network security for network-connected devices easy for OEMs to implement. Providing robust authentication, role-based authorization and detailed accounting protocols, this SDK fully integrates a device into a network by authenticating the user into the enterprise, providing functionality for the user based on authorization and a secure audit trail of those actions to meet regulatory requirements. This SDK provides the public-key cryptography necessary for digital signatures to ensure the integrity of messages transmitted over a network as well as their non-repudiation and confidentiality. The result is full data integrity and confidentiality.
PeerlessNet Web Services SDK
PeerlessNet Web Services SDK allows manufacturers of network-connected devices to support the new Network Plug 'n Play (PnP-X) and Web Services for Devices (WSD) connectivity in Microsoft Vista as well as Web Services-based enterprise applications. In addition, this SDK provides the tools to integrate devices into business workflows, thereby automating business processes. Added functionality includes secure messaging, dynamic discovery, detailed service description and rich status reporting.
PeerlessNet MFP Messaging SDK
The MFP Messaging SDK offers SMTP Client, FTP Client and Secure MIME encoding capabilities for sending documents, as well as POP3 Client and Secure MIME decoding capabilities for receiving documents. This enables devices to provide rich, secure send-and-receive functionality for a variety of applications such as scan to email and FTP, the use of iFax for sending and receiving documents, or Secure iFax to send and receive using Secure MIME and TIFF-FX Profile S functionality.
