NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2003--Storage Computer Corporation (AMEX: SOS) (www.storage.com), a provider of high-performance storage and data management systems, has announced availability of CyberNAS Version 2.2 with advanced feature sets.
The next generation CyberNAS brings to the market advanced features associated with ease of deployment, integrated RAID management and high performance throughput as well as dynamic growth capability and wide area replication features. "We are extremely pleased with our new CyberNAS installations", stated a senior systems architect within a Fortune 50 company's High Performance Computing Group. "After the CyberNAS installations our 96 server clusters were processing tasks at three times the throughput of the older configurations."
The CyberNAS V2.2 will be available starting July 1st in a packaged software form. Targeted for aggressively approaching the VAR (Value Added Reseller) and Systems Integrator market the CyberNAS V2.2 software currently runs on Red Hat(TM) 7.3 operating system and it's supported platforms. The software is tuned to accommodate commodity off-the-shelf Intel(TM) based servers available from most major brand hardware suppliers. Integrated systems using "best of breed" hardware components are sold through Storage Computer Channel Partners and VARs/Systems Integrators.
"VARs and integrators with leading edge commercial or government customer applications will find a powerful storage solution advantage in the functionality and modularity of the CyberNAS V2.2 software", stated Ricardo Velez McCaskey, CTO. "The software only option empowers VAR's and those dedicated to Red Hat platforms by offering them direct NAS storage management capabilities through software integration to build first class solutions to the toughest application problems."
The CyberNAS V2.2 new advanced features include Local and Wide Area Replication, journaled and non-journaled capabilities, extensive snapshot features, dynamic partition expansion, WEB-DAV distributed authoring and versioning (for file access in lieu of share permissions), advanced quota support capabilities, anti virus and intrusion detection options and much more. The CyberNAS V2.2 will also be offered as a packaged solution whose configurations include 1U slim head units, 3U units with 16 integrated drives as well as SATA options for archiving and cost effective deployments.
"The CyberNAS V2.2 software has shown its capability to scale allowing it to meet even the most critical performance needs of the grid supercomputing and cluster computing environments" stated Sean Murphy, Director of Software Engineering. "By harnessing the dramatic power and capacity increases associated with off-the-shelf hardware, along with Red Hat and Linux operating system growth, the CyberNAS V2.2 software is engineered to provide a powerful yet seamless solution which addresses complex next generation storage management needs."
Storage Computer will have representative displays of the CyberNAS V2.2 at the IEEE High Performance Distributed Computing and Global Grid Forum (HPDC-12/GGF-8) in Seattle Washington next week June 24th through 27th.
