LAS VEGAS, May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. today announced the introduction of several new products to support the critical communications needs of professional, commercial, public safety and government customers. The new offerings, unveiled at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE), include a digital two-way radio platform for the professional market, new mobile and portable radio offerings, VoIP and IP interoperable solutions and innovative accessories to extend functionality for both existing and new infrastructure.
Motorola developed these new communications solutions to meet the growing needs of industries including transportation, education, construction, manufacturing, energy, utilities, private security, municipal government, local law enforcement and other community public safety and public service organizations.
"Our customers have greater, and more varied, needs than ever before," said Craig Chenicek, director of Motorola Radio Products. "Motorola products being announced at IWCE are evidence that we are matching these customer needs with innovative new solutions, including technologies that both improve basic functionality and offer advanced features, with simple and economical migration paths."
New products showcased at IWCE include: -- MOTOTRBO(TM) Digital Two-way Professional Radio: Specifically designed for professional two-way radio customers, MOTOTRBO utilizes digital technology to improve basic functionality and system performance, including increased system capacity, improved audio quality, longer battery life, built-in privacy, and enhanced call signaling and control capabilities. By integrating voice and data capability on one platform, organizations also have access to advanced features such as location tracking (using Global Position Tracking), text messaging and other IP data applications. MOTOTRBO uses standards-based technology that increases channel capacity by using existing spectrum more efficiently. -- Mag One(TM) by Motorola BPR(TM)40 Two-Way Portable Radio: The BPR40 two-way radio offers affordable, reliable, high-performance communications for customers, particularly those in the education, retail, hospitality and light construction industries. The BPR40 two- way radio includes eight channels, two programmable buttons, 12 programmable features, light-weight design and high/low power options. -- PM1500(TM) Two-Way Mobile Radio: A high power mobile radio designed for growing communities, the PM1500 features 255 channels, 110 watts of power, 7.5 watt external speaker and a programmable emergency button. With an optional Project 25 software upgrade, users can quickly adjust for interoperability needs. -- MIP 5000 VoIP Radio Console: The MIP 5000 is a full-featured IP-based radio console that uses a standard PC or laptop computer and installs on an existing customer-managed network. Focused on the needs of small dispatch, the new MIP 5000 is compatible with conventional and trunked radio systems (UHF, VHF and 800 MHz). The network-enabled console provides low cost radio access across wide distances. It offers small counties and towns affordable alternatives for a mobile command or backup site and is well-suited for the high quality radio communication needs of regional utilities and multi-site businesses. MIP 5000 includes the added convenience of shared desktop with Microsoft(R) Office. -- MM1000 Multi-Net Mobility(TM) Mobile Router: The MM1000 is a rugged mobile workstation that enables users to run applications and Mobile VPN on one mobile workstation, eliminating the need for separate workstation and mobile router units in the vehicle. The MM1000 extends coverage into difficult environments such as structures, stairwells, and below-ground facilities by operating as a wireless repeater that maintains an external link to the wide area network while re- transmitting a stronger signal to the remote user. The solution also provides multi-network connectivity for mobile users roaming between more than three wireless data networks, so users stay connected to broadband data applications, including while away from the vehicle. New Accessories Supporting Seamless Mobility: -- Mag One(TM) Audio Accessories: Developed for light-duty radio users such as retail, hospitality, event coordination and security professionals, Motorola's Mag One line of audio accessories for commercial series two-way radios includes earpieces, headsets and a remote speaker microphone. -- Mag One(TM) and NRG(TM) Series Batteries: Using customized cells to achieve maximum performance with Motorola radios, the Mag One line of batteries is compatible with commercial and professional series radios. A new line of OEM replacement batteries, the NRG(TM) Series for competitive radio models, also is available. -- Remote Speaker Microphones (RSMs): Motorola introduced six new RSMs compatible with a number of two-way radios. The RSMs boast an enhanced "windporting" feature that dramatically lessens background noise from high winds and other noisy conditions, allowing for improved communication. -- Public Safety Microphone (PSM): Designed to increase coverage so users can communicate clearly and accurately in emergency situations, the new PSM is compatible with the ASTRO(R) Digital XTS 1500(TM) and XTS 2500(TM), MT(TM) 1500 and PR1500 two-way portable radios. In addition to these new product offerings, Motorola announced: -- MOTOBRIDGE(TM) IP Interoperable Solution: An IP-based interoperability solution, MOTOBRIDGE is now available in four modular configurations that allow customers to expand the system infrastructure as interoperability needs grow. At IWCE, Motorola is introducing MOTOBRIDGE G1 and G4 options to provide customers the flexibility they desire for stand alone or transportable applications. Customers using these new configurations can easily transition to larger MOTOBRIDGE GX or MX systems when interoperability needs expand. MOTOBRIDGE eliminates communication barriers by connecting incompatible voice communication systems instantly. The bridges between systems are available 24/7, and can be activated within seconds. -- Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Expanded Capabilities: Motorola's ALPR system delivers a fast and easy way to help improve productivity, enhance officer safety, and maximize revenue. ALPR extends the capability of the force by allowing license plates to be checked automatically and continuously, alerting officers of potential "hits" as they occur. New features introduced at IWCE include: integration with Motorola's Mobile Video Enforcer (MVE) - an ALPR "hit" activates the MVE video recording; ability to mount two cameras on one vehicle for special need situations; Back Office System Server (BOSS) software to manage and manipulate ALPR data; GPS capabilities, and wireless updates with AirMobile integration. -- General Availability for Multi-Net Mobility(TM) Mobile Virtual Private Network (MVPN): Multi-Net Mobility recently joined Motorola's Mobile VPN/Mobile Router offering, expanding the current mobile data portfolio. Now available to customers throughout the United States and Canada, Multi-Net Mobility is a client-server software based solution designed to deliver secure connectivity, session persistence, and intelligent routing while users seamlessly roam between wireless networks. Based on standard Mobile IP protocol, Multi-Net Mobility provides end-to-end data encryption for text, image and video applications while operating across a variety of public and private networks, including Motorola's MOTOMESH(TM) multi-radio broadband wireless network, 802.11 WiFi, and public carrier networks. Multi-Net Mobility supports secure, interoperable, mobile broadband to meet the needs of users on the move.
Motorola will be showcasing its products and innovations here May 17-19 at Booth #813 during the IWCE.
