The agreement, believed to be the first of its kind in the cable industry, allows Sunflower Broadband to add wireless voice and Sprint PCS Vision(SM) services to its existing portfolio of product offerings -- such as digital cable service, high-speed data and telephone -- providing a competitive advantage that establishes the cable operator as a full service video, voice, wireless and data provider. The addition of wireless telecom services represents a highly attractive opportunity to address competition, retain customers and capture new revenues with bundled services.
"By partnering with Sprint, Sunflower Broadband will now be able to offer our subscribers access to Sprint's nationwide digital network. This allows us to deliver to consumers a comprehensive portfolio of entertainment and communication services, with the reliability and quality of service our customers have come to expect," said Patrick Knorr, general manager, Sunflower Broadband.
"Sprint's partnership with Sunflower Broadband is further indication that Sprint is uniquely positioned to provide unmatched value to the cable industry," said Ralph Hodge, senior vice president of cable solutions, Sprint. "By adding wireless services into its bundled portfolio, Sunflower Broadband is better equipped to address growing competition from the ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) while expanding the opportunity to grow new revenues."
The agreement marks a continued expansion for Sprint into partnerships with cable providers. Sprint is leveraging its telecom assets and communications expertise to help drive this expansion and deliver wireless and telephony solutions to the cable industry. In December, Sprint announced an agreement with Time Warner Cable to offer voice-over-IP-based telephone service to Time Warner Cable subscribers in 17 markets.

About Sunflower Broadband
Sunflower Broadband (formerly known as Sunflower Cablevision) first entered the cable television business in 1970. Offering just 10 channels and a better picture quality than an antenna could provide, Sunflower Cablevision quickly became a household name in many homes in Lawrence and Douglas County. In July 2001, Sunflower Cablevision changed its name to Sunflower Broadband to reflect its transition from being solely a cable television provider. Although cable television programming remains Sunflower's core business, its advanced broadband network has become the conduit through which it can provide customers with highly advanced video, data, and voice services. Because Sunflower Broadband is locally owned and operated, it is able to provide fast local service and technical support to both residential and commercial customers, and as a multi-service provider, Sunflower can customize telecommunications packages that are a perfect fit for almost anyone!
Today Sunflower Broadband serves nearly 80% of all homes in the Lawrence, Eudora, and Douglas County area, delivering more than 200 television channels, high-speed cable modem Internet access, and local and long-distance telephone services. Sunflower Broadband also serves Tonganoxie, Basehor and rural Leavenworth County. For more information, visit http://www.sunflowerbroadband.com/ .
