NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer Wins MySQL Application of the Year Award

Posted on: Monday, 22 May 2006, 12:00 CDT

NetQoS(R) Inc. has won a MySQL Application of the Year Award for the innovative use of MySQL in its ReporterAnalyzer(TM) product.

"The MySQL Application of the Year award is given to organizations that have clearly demonstrated how MySQL's reliability, performance and ease-of-use can contribute to world-class production applications," said Edwin Desouza, senior director of product marketing at MySQL. "We have recognized NetQoS for its use of MySQL to architect an innovative distributed solution that meets the needs of the largest enterprise networks and brings tangible benefits to its customers."

"Our mission when developing ReporterAnalyzer was to build a scalable product that could quickly and easily collect, analyze, and report on the avalanche of data produced by the largest customer networks," said Joel Trammell, NetQoS CEO. "Using MySQL, we were able to create a distributed network management solution that provides network managers fast access to the right data at the right time but requires less hardware and less administration than traditional approaches. Today, ReporterAnalyzer is the recognized standard for traffic flow analysis using Cisco IOS(R) NetFlow and is known for scaling to the largest enterprise networks. Hundreds of organizations use it to obtain the detailed real-time and historical data needed to help make informed decisions about network optimization."

Using an array of distributed MySQL databases, NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer quickly stores and retrieves data, providing real-time data visibility from databases at network aggregation points and storing 15-minute aggregations in a central database for 13 months. For NetQoS customers, this means identifying and solving network problems faster, making more informed capacity decisions, and eliminating unnecessary bandwidth upgrades to contain WAN costs.

ReporterAnalyzer -- a 2006 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Codie Awards finalist -- is a module of the NetQoS Performance Center, a Web-based management portal that integrates data from NetQoS' products in customized views to help enterprises be more effective in capacity planning, troubleshooting, and service level management. The NetQoS Performance Center's other product modules include SuperAgent(R) for end-to-end performance monitoring and NetVoyant(R) for device and infrastructure performance monitoring.

About NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer

NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer provides global visibility into wide area network traffic, enabling an understanding of how application traffic is impacting network performance. ReporterAnalyzer captures a rich set of traffic statistics from Cisco IOS(R) NetFlow or other IPFIX-enabled devices to identify which applications and users are using bandwidth, and when, allowing network managers and engineers to make informed decisions in troubleshooting and capacity planning. ReporterAnalyzer's product architecture scales to handle the number of interfaces and volume of flow data in the world's largest networks, providing real-time visibility into 100 percent of enterprise-wide network traffic and access to a full year's worth of detailed data.
