F-Secure Selects Commtouch Anti-Spam and Zero-Hour Virus Protection Technology; Commtouch Recurrent Pattern Detection Technology to Enhance F-Secure's Threat Protection Product Line

Posted on: Tuesday, 23 May 2006, 16:56 CDT

F-Secure and Commtouch (NASDAQ:CTCH) today announced a strategic alliance through which Commtouch's real-time virus and spam protection technology will be integrated within F-Secure's products.

The combined solution will provide F-Secure's customers with immediate protection against virus outbreaks, and will improve productivity and save IT costs by reducing spam.

"Rapid response to new threats has always been a key issue for us, so it was important for us to protect our customers at the start of any outbreak, with no delay," said Pirkka Palomaki, VP Research & Development of F-Secure. "After a lengthy evaluation process, we selected Commtouch's Zero-Hour(TM) virus protection and spam defense solution. We are delighted with the performance of Commtouch's technology that we are integrating into our suite of Internet security products."

F-Secure's Internet Gatekeeper 6.60, scheduled for release by the end of May 2006, will be its first product to incorporate Commtouch technology.

"We are pleased to be working with one of the leading and fastest growing threat protection companies, and we see enormous potential in this new, long-term partnership with F-Secure," said Ronni Zehavi, VP of Business Development at Commtouch. "Commtouch's unique Recurrent Pattern Detection(TM) approach to catching spam and viruses will complement F-Secure's other threat prevention methods, bringing an enhanced solution to F-Secure's customers."

F-Secure is the fastest growing publicly traded company in the computer threat prevention industry, with its most recent quarter showing 41% revenue growth.

The tight integration of Commtouch's RPD-driven virus detection and anti-spam technology into F-Secure's threat protection products provides several key benefits to its customers, including shortening the time for end-customers to receive anti-virus signatures and protecting end users until their next scheduled anti-virus update. The new technology will also enable detection and real time blocking of spam outbreaks from all over the world, in every language and any format, increase end-user productivity through nearly perfect elimination of spam as well as saving on IT costs related to handling spam.
