Actions Semiconductor Introduces New Environmentally Conscious Products

ZHUHAI, China, May 23 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd. , one of China's leading fabless semiconductor companies that provides comprehensive mixed-signal system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for portable consumer electronics, today announced the availability of its new environmentally conscious and RoHS compliant products.

The European Union's RoHS Directive (Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances) was passed with the objective of minimizing the impact of certain hazardous substances on the environment and calls for a restriction on the use of these substances in electrical and electronic equipment. On July 1, 2006, the RoHS Directive will become effective in EU markets, banning the sale of new electrical and electronic equipment that contain more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

After comprehensive research and close cooperation with material suppliers and outsourcing partners, Actions has successfully passed necessary testing conducted by Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd, (SGS-CSTC), an authority in testing and verification of the production process under the RoHS Directive.
