Indicative Releases Latest Version of IT Service Management Software

Posted on: Tuesday, 23 May 2006, 16:56 CDT

Indicative Software today released a new version of its comprehensive IT service management software that major corporations use to maximize the business potential of their IT investments. The new software includes productivity-boosting features that directly benefit end-users as well as IT professionals in organizations that depend upon IT for the delivery of services for revenue generation and corporate or brand reputation.

Indicative is in a unique position in a market crowded with confusing choices for service management. Its product is neither niche start-up technology nor legacy management software, yet as a company it offers the compelling benefits of both: comprehensive and proven software backed by the drive and innovation characteristic of a nimble start-up. Indicative continues to drive its architectural advantage to greater benefits and ever faster time to value for its growing customer base. Customer feedback continues to confirm Indicative is the only IT service management software vendor to deliver every feature and function a given company asserts its software can perform.

"Indicative 7.5 is reflective of our increased investment in what we see as an opportunity to improve enterprise-wide productivity in service-oriented IT organizations," said Lacy H. Edwards, CEO of Indicative. "A big reason we're now seeing such ready market acceptance is the fact we deliver rapid and friction-free time to value in each of our deployments, but we're also hearing loud and clear that we're the only vendor in the market to deliver what we say our product can do. No other company can deliver this degree of proactive, productivity-boosting IT service management with as quick or as high a return on value as Indicative."

The dozens of new capabilities built into Indicative 7.5 were designed with an overarching goal of boosting the productivity of end-users and IT professionals alike. The software is inherently flexible and adaptable, and is even more attuned to the early warning signs of service degradation to make troubleshooting and analysis faster across an enterprise. The new Indicative 7.5 builds upon high-value capabilities that assure the highest potential for the best end-user experiences with IT-driven services. It features more out-of-the-box templates, richer integration with third-party tools, improved troubleshooting capabilities, advanced reporting options and quicker deployment techniques. With this latest release, Indicative increases its template library from 1,400 out-of-the-box measurements to 1,800, including pre-packaged service models for geographic location, user role, three-tier server farm, Citrix, Microsoft Exchange(R) and others that are automatically discovered and instantiated through simple drag-and-drop techniques. With such features Indicative 7.5 extends its leadership position by enabling IT organizations to even more efficiently and effectively meet the demanding needs of end-users.

New capabilities of Indicative 7.5 include:

-- more ready-to-use templates, with .NET infrastructure discovery and monitoring, end-to-end transaction monitoring across tiers, and additional Oracle depth; -- richer integration with other management tools that support 3rd party events and additional log analysis; -- faster and richer deployment, with additional automated discovery and "bench testing" of scripted actions; -- improved troubleshooting that includes configurable health status propagation, automated capture of "Top N" and other supporting data for drill-down and failing transaction screen capture and optional WebSphere(R) application analysis; -- faster analysis, with flexible and robust reporting of data in tabular format, pre-packaged outage and usage reporting.

"We tested other products to monitor web applications but we could not get some of them to work," said Patrick Healey, manager of technical infrastructure at the National Grange Mutual Insurance. "Others would report the total time an application spends in the WebSphere Application Server but offered no clue as to the cause of delay or problem. It used to take us months to track down and resolve intermittent problems of this type. Indicative 7.5's detailed trace output reduces this effort to mere hours. Indicative is invaluable in both our QA and our production environments," he added.

"Indicative has added substantial functionality to the product, all the while maintaining its focus around total cost of ownership and real customer needs," said Lisa Erickson-Harris, research director of Enterprise Management Associates. "Indicative's template library is comprehensive and easily extensible providing an example of Indicative's initiatives aimed at easing the process for companies deploying ITSM."

Pricing and Availability

Indicative 7.5 is currently shipping to enterprise IT customers, and pricing starts at $100,000.
