Posted on: Wednesday, 24 May 2006, 09:00 CDT
Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation announced today that eWEEK, a Ziff Davis Media publication and one of the IT industry's leading enterprise magazines, has awarded the Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST(TM) 480 server top honors in the Server Hardware category of the 6th annual eWEEK Excellence Awards program. Fujitsu Interstage(R) XWand(R) software also received recognition as a finalist in the Analytics and Reporting category. The PRIMEQUEST server win was announced at a ceremony last night in Boston. Analysis of the winning products and services will be published in a special report in the June 19th edition of eWEEK and online at www.eweek.com.
"Fujitsu is committed to providing customers with products, solutions and services that further optimize their enterprise IT infrastructure and reduce system complexity," said Richard McCormack, senior vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer Systems. "The recognition of PRIMEQUEST 480 and Interstage XWand by the prestigious eWEEK Excellence Awards program demonstrates Fujitsu's success in providing our customers with products that meet their real-world business requirements."
PRIMEQUEST 480
Based on the success of Fujitsu's mission-critical mainframe-class UNIX servers, PRIMEQUEST 480, the high-end model of the PRIMEQUEST server line, has set world records in processing Java applications in Windows and Linux environments. The 32-way PRIMEQUEST 480 server uses Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processors operating at 1.6 GHz in a compact chassis. Designed with several innovative features including integrated gigabit LAN interfaces, KVM switch, redundant management processors, and System Mirror operation, PRIMEQUEST servers offer both scale-up and scale-out in a state-of-the-art design. PRIMEQUEST server customers include the Tokyo Stock Exchange and TKC Corporation in Japan. EDS, a Fujitsu Technology Alliance Partner, offers PRIMEQUEST servers in its solutions to enterprise customers in North America.
Interstage XWand
Interstage XWand is the first fully compliant and 100 percent Java-based XBRL application development and runtime environment. Fujitsu designed Interstage XWand for accurate and fast disclosure of financial information to achieve compliance with mandates such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II and new SEC filing requirements. With Interstage XWand, users can manage, exchange and present financial data in XBRL without having to learn XML. Interstage XWand is the first XBRL development environment that is fully compliant with XBRL 2.0 and XBRL 2.1, the latest XBRL standard specification.
"A high level of innovation -- both from start-ups and industry stalwarts - - was what impressed us most about this year's field of entries," said Eric Lundquist, eWEEK editorial director. "It's clear from the hundreds of entries evaluated by the Excellence Awards judges that vendors are responding quickly and effectively to the increasingly complex -- and constantly changing -- demands put on enterprise IT managers."
The eWEEK Excellence Awards program provides enterprise professionals with a comprehensive benchmark for assessing a wide range of technology products and services. Evaluating the entries is a panel of experts including eWEEK Labs analysts and eWEEK Corporate Partners -- senior enterprise IT professionals who act as reader representatives.
